Halau O Kaukau

We have lovingly come to call ourselves "Halau O Kaukau" because we always seem to find ourselves gathered around the table "talking story." Originally so named by Makani Christensen, it is a philosophy that we have fully embraced.
"Kaukau" is a pidgin word meaning "food" or "to eat." Like the word "kaukau" itself, we are not all native Hawaiian, but Hawaiian at heart nonetheless. (The Hawaiian term for food is `ai. The two theories on the origin of the word "kaukau" are the Hawaiian word for table, pâkaukau, and the Chinese word for food, chow chow.)
In the spirit of aloha, we would like to invite you to our table with some of our favorite recipes.
